In December of 2019, Brave & Beautiful Blood Cancer Foundation visited 2 hospitals for a toy drive and donated to over 80 families. The toy drive was successful in raising approximately $20,000 in value of gifts that would spread joy to not only the pediatric hospital patients, ages newborn to 18, but to their siblings as well. Santa and his helpers visited the children of Summerlin Hospital and Sunrise Hospital just in time for Christmas, spreading joy and smiles to the patients and their families.
The toy drive was no easy task! The toy drive campaign was started on the Brave & Beautiful Blood Cancer Foundation Facebook page, which gave the fundraiser the push it needed. Each day the organization reached out to the local Nevadans for help whether it be for a toy donation, gift wrapping, or to be a toy drive drop-off location. After getting some spark in the community local radio station KDWN 101.5 Talking Solutions with Terrie Springs, invited Founder Hanna Olivas and Jerry Olivas to talk about the toy drive.
